A banner is an animated graphic - usually 400 pixels by 40 pixels in size (though new sizes are appearing almost daily) - which advertises your web site. By clicking on the banner the web surfer is transferred from the site on which the banner resides to your web site. Banners are an accepted part of internet life and account for much of the advertising revenue that some companies make from having a popular web site. A banner is like a small television advertisement without the sound - it is produced in much the same way by merging frames of information in an interesting, colourful and appealing way. Some banners use humour to attract the web surfers' attention, some use a benefit statement, others use attractive or interesting visual effects. Whatever the technique there is no doubt that a well designed banner is an enhancement to any site's marketing mix.

A graphics and marketing specialist will design an animated banner to your specifications including your logo, trademark, slogan and/or product picture. This banner will then be yours to use as you wish in a banner exchange of your choice or in our webshop banner program.

Once we have designed your banner you will need to have it submitted to a Banner Exchange Program. A banner program is a collection of web sites that exchange banner graphics for the purpose of advertising. While you show a banner on your web site you collect credits which allow you to have your banner shown on other web sites that participate in the exchange. The banner exchange which we have chosen to affiliate the webshop with is Microsoft LinkExchange - with over 450 000 sites in 32 countries it allows for diverse coverage and saturation within the internet community. With a 2:1 ratio (2 banner appearances on your web site = one of your banners shown on another web site) we find this exchange to be well-executed and well-respected.

There are however many other banner exchange programs each with their own exchange rules. Some are targeted to a particular market such as women, car sites etc. If you would like us to search for an exchange program suited to your particular site we will happily do this for you at no extra charge.

We will register you with the Banner Exchange program of your choice (though we highly recommend LinkExchange to begin with), add exchange banners to selected parts of your web site and submit your reciprocal banner so that it can be added to the rotation.

Meta-tags are arguably one of the most important facets of your web site. The key to marketing your web site is having the site found in search engines by your potential customers. The majority of search engines use meta-tags in one form or another to categorise your site. By including meta-tags specifying a description, search keywords, page title and abstract description in the underlying code of your web site you are increasing the chances of being found - and then being correctly categorised - by search engine 'bots' or 'spiders'.

These creatures search the internet looking for new content for search engine databases. Without meta-tags the placement of your site in categories could be left solely to the title of your page, the first few words on your site - or the whim of the search engine! Keywords increase the 'relevence' of your site when certain words are typed in by the search engine user - and again increase the chances of being found.

The webshop can develop and embed in your web site meta-tags designed to increase your exposure and relevence to search engines and get your site 'seen' on the Internet.

How does your site need improvement in order to rank higher in all the search engines? How will it be found more easily by web bots which are sent by search engines to collect more sites for their database - and how will they know what category to put your site in when it's added?

These questions are answered and common design problems solved with the webshop Site Analysis. We utilise a dedicated analysis program and a web development professional to pore over your site design and determine where it may need improvement to rank higher in the most popular search engines.

The analysis enables six keywords of your choice to be added to the coding of your web site start page so that it is optimised for high ranking in the 18 top search engines. As all search engines differ in the way they analyse your site for ranking relevence we will use different means of analysis to improve your potential ranking for each of the 18 search engines. This process can be quite lengthy and we recommend a week for completion of the analysis and page alteration.

Submitting your web site to search engines is undoubtedly the most important part of marketing your web site. Many businesses spend thousands of dollars on marketing their web site only to find that it is virtually invisible on the internet. This problem can be solved by investing in search engine submission.

Manually submitting your site can be time consuming and tedious – and without adequately researching the requirements for each web site the time spent doing this might well be wasted.
